Decimal Place Value Escape Room
Description This is an Escape Room activity with a haunted house theme. The activity focuses on decimal place value. Students will answer questions about standard form, expanded form, word form, comparing decimals, and rounding decimals. An Escape Room is an adventure in which players solve a series of puzzles using clues, hints, and strategies to complete the objectives at hand. In this Escape Room, students are presented with a situation. They are trapped in a haunted house. In order to escape, they must solve 4 puzzles. Each puzzle gives them a key, which the teacher holds, and gives to each team as they successfully complete each puzzle. The activity is designed to be played in small groups. Teacher forms teams. I suggest no more than 5 students in a team. ♥Why this game?♥ Escape Rooms are highly engaging for the students. Their task is to figure out clues in order to escape the room, in this case it is a haunted house.
